[00:00:00] Hello, and welcome to the So Here For It podcast, I'm your host, Amy Mingin and it is such a pleasure to have you here today. I want to talk all about being consistent, but also having certainty today. And it's probably not going to come across in the way that you're expecting.
Tony Robbins talks about the six human needs. Now, I'm not going to talk about all of them today, but I want to talk to you specifically about certainty. Because I was pondering this this morning when I was out on the trails on my run. And what I realized is this. A lot of people who go into business think that they're going to have certainty.
They're like, I'm doing this because I want the time freedom. I want to set my own hours. And I want to make as much money as possible, which is perfect, right? Like aren't we all here for that? But here's the thing that happens. Somebody goes into business, but what is the point of [00:01:00] being in business... is to be in profit, yes. Number one. But number two, people think that they're going to have this massive freedom lifestyle. When in fact they, in the beginning, when they're in their startup phase, they're working longer hours and they're maybe making a sale every now and then. It takes a bit of time to get a business up and running.
This is just, this isn't me sitting in limiting beliefs. This is me sitting in realism right now. People then go, oh my gosh. Well, if I just try harder then I will get more. I'll get more clients, I'll get more cashflow, but the thing is you can't force things to happen. So they go round and round in circles, searching for the certainty in being consistent, because they all just think that they need to be consistent in order to have this certainty in their business. But there's one really big thing that they're missing. It's this. There's nothing certain about being in business.
I'm going to say it again. It takes risk [00:02:00] to be in business. It takes risk to be an entrepreneur. So you're either going to be an employee or an entrepreneur. And you can't expect your business to be consistent if you just want to be an employee. Because your going to go through different seasons in your business, just like you go through different seasons in your cycle.
You think about how you feel throughout the month. If you haven't already gone and listened to season one, the episode that I talk about consistency, go listen to that as well. Because we are cyclical beings. Just because time seems very linear inside this programmed society doesn't mean that you need to fit within that. So, what if you saw your business as cyclical, what if you saw yourself as cyclical or what if you saw the ebbs and flows in your business i.e. your inconsistencies and your inability to be certain in your business. What if you saw that as you being able to go, [00:03:00] oh, this is a normal part of the cycle. Like there's been periods of time where my client acquisition has been lower than the amount of clients who I have retained. And then there's been other times where I've had a bunch of people say, yep, I'm complete.
And then I've had a bunch of people who I've acquired. There are ebbs and flows in business. It is risky. We have to learn for our nervous systems to start feeling certain within the uncertainty. We have to learn that there are things that are going to surprise and delight us on an everyday basis. And also this, we have to learn that there is a minimum effective dose for each business and each person. So if you're somebody who has read some latest strategy on social media that you should only post three times a week because that'll get you the most reach, but you're scared as shit to talk to camera, that's a bad strategy. Do you want to know [00:04:00] why? Because the only way to get better at something is to practice. So my suggestion is you would be better off talking to camera three times a day so that you can get through that side where you just desensitize yourself from being freaked out by speaking to camera. You think about how many posts you can put out per week that might be pretty shitty in the beginning, that you just get out of the way. Rather than you being like, well, I'm only allowed to follow that strategy and I'm only allowed to post three times a week because that'll get me the most reach, like, forget about the vanity metrics and start focusing on the quality. You're building a quality brand. You're building a quality life. So, what are the things that you hold yourself back from just because somebody created some program or some rule to say, this is the way to do it. Can you just start being okay with the fact that no-one fricking knows what they're doing. Like, I'm still experimenting every single day of my life with so many different things. And that's why I always say at the [00:05:00] beginning of a course, that becomes prerecorded, I will say I reserve the right to change my mind. Because this is true and correct for me right at this moment. So it's the 18th of July at the recording stage, the 18th of July, 2024. I reserve the right to change my mind. I might change my mind on consistency five minutes down the track and that's okay. I'm totally okay with that, because guess what? I'm a cyclical being and I want you to get that you're a cyclical being too.
I want you to start giving yourself that grace and space, but also like give yourself a kick up the butt if you need it, like stop playing this game of, oh, but I need a rest day if you've already been resting for days on end. And you've just been like pretending to be busy. Like, I actually want to delete the whole like council worker thing out of the existence. And what I mean by this is, I'm sure you've all seen this, I don't know if this is a worldwide thing, cause I know I have worldwide listeners, but this is what happens in [00:06:00] Australia. There's a thing called the council. And the council has a whole lot of workers. So they look like little worker guys. They've got like hard hats. They wear high vis clothing. And pretty much every time you drive past them, they're always doing roadworks. Pretty much every time you drive past them, there's about six of them standing around talking and one guy on like a digger or doing something on the road, putting lines on the road, or somebody like standing there with a lollipop thing, like with the slow sign or the stop sign. Like a lot of the time these council workers don't really look like they're doing much, granted, I've never worked for the council. So, you know, maybe they are doing something or they're just waiting for their turn. But I want you to stop being a council worker in your business.
Stop standing around talking about what you think you're going to do and just get out there and do it. Because that's going to give you so much more certainty in yourself. You are where the certainty comes from, not the stuff outside of you. Stop waiting for that external validation. Stop waiting for the people that are going to [00:07:00] give that thing to you externally, because it might not ever happen. You have to source his certainty within yourself. And the only way to do that is to do the hard thing, is to keep showing up, keep showing up until you get great at the thing. It's not about the vanity metrics. It's great to go viral. I have viral things that are out there on the internet. It's fricking amazing, but also it's not just about that. What's most important to me is that I put out quality content that's going to help fulfill my mission of why I'm here.
More people becoming empowered, more people taking self responsibility, more people being able to join in the raising of the frequency of health, their vibration, actually looking after themselves inside this lifetime, because there are far too many people dying way too early without the right information.
So information is queen here. And I want you to take the information and actually act on it. Ah, like so many people waiting for certainty when they can just go and create it for themselves. But [00:08:00] get certain in the things that you're going to do each day too. Like, do you want a really tangible method? I'm going to give you a tangible method.
Here's the tangible method that you didn't realize you were going to get inside this episode. Number one, write down what it is you're going to do the night before. So like, for example, if there's an email that I haven't sent, I say, write the email to that person. I put on my post-it. If there's a podcast episode that I need to do, write it down, podcast episode. If there's a particular concept that I've been thinking about, and I want to do content around it, write it down, do the content for that particular thing.
Because if we allow all of these ideas to just be thought of, and they never actually get out there on our social media, or they're never shared with someone, they're never spoken about, the ideas die. And I don't want you to die with ideas inside of you. How boring would the world be if everyone thinks the things and they never share it. Let's share what we [00:09:00] are pondering. Let's share our insights. Let's share our experiences. Let's share our opinions. Like I was laughing the other day because my mum's always said to me, Oh, Amy, you're so opinionated. And I've always been like, yeah, I am. Because I have an opinion about things. Why would I not share my opinion? Like, I'm sorry, but this is what I'm here for.
Like, literally this is what I'm here for. I learn about something. And I teach the things and I have an opinion about things. And guess what? Sometimes I change my mind. Like I said, I reserve the right to change my mind. I want you to have more opinions. Don't be afraid to rock the boat. People are so scared of putting things out there on the internet, because someone's going to disagree with them, but like how can we ever think that everybody's going to agree with us? Like that is just so silly. Like put that to bed because the little baby, the little toddler inside of us, the little child who's scared of [00:10:00] getting in trouble, that version of us, just let them play. Let them play.
Let them have a good time doing this stuff. Like what is the thing that you wish you could share that's actually so funny? That makes you look a little unhinged, go and share that today. What's the thing that you've been thinking about that like might trigger some people, that you can say, kindly, this doesn't mean that you need to be super spicy or a bitch about it. Like literally you could just say this thing, that's what's been on your mind and there's probably a whole bunch of people that will exhale and be like, yep. Me too. Or there's going to be that person, like I get a lot of, I get a lot of people on Tik Tok, mostly, but sometimes on Facebook or Instagram where I've said something about health, because I am an expert in health. I've been doing this stuff for 20 years of my life. And they'll be like, but you're not even a doctor. And I'm like, so? I've been doing this [00:11:00] forever. Like a doctor doesn't necessarily know more than me, doesn't necessarily have more experience than me. Probably, a lot of the time, doesn't have the worldly knowledge that I put into all of the things that I put out there. So I don't take offense to that. It's just like, yes, so what is your point? So if somebody is going to put hate on a post or put hate on something that you're going to say out in the open, that's okay. They're allowed to have an opinion. You don't have to take on what they say. You actually don't need to take anything personally. So, this is a really big thing, because this is sometimes what stops people from being consistent, is this uncertainty. So, like I said, get certain by writing yourself a list. Get even more certain by doing the list. And then get even more certain by giving yourself feedback and auditing what you're doing about the list every single day. Because the fear that pops up when you go to do the thing that feels a little bit scary, that fear, when you start [00:12:00] moving more towards that, the amount of certainty that you have will be humongous.
Like this is the work. This is, this takes you far beyond any strategy beyond any of like, you know, the trending audios or anything that a business coach has ever told you. Like a business coach is great because they can help you with the strategy that can help you with the mindset shifts. They can help you with the awareness. Absolutely. And the way that I do it is I help you actually become who you really are and show up who you are. So, if you're interested in business coaching, please reach out to me, by the way.
But also, this is about you being able to be fully expressed. This is about you being able to open your heart regardless of what somebody else is going to say. Regardless of whether they agree with you or not. Because this is not about you being liked. This is about you building your own self, from the inside out.
It's about you being brave and courageous. There's something about the [00:13:00] fear that changes, but by you being more courageous. The fear doesn't go away. But the fear becomes less the enemy. The fear gets to sit in the backseat. The fear sound goes down. Because you're being courageous. You're actually stepping into something that you've not stepped into before.
And this is the other thing that I actually really love to say about fear. And also about the people who don't agree with us. Let's just say they don't agree with us. It doesn't actually mean that they don't like us as a person. They just don't agree with what we're saying. And when you say like that, it's just a bit like, oh, you can be objective about it, right? It doesn't need to be taken to heart what other people say. Now, when you are actually in the arena. I think of the Teddy Roosevelt quote, the man in the arena. If you haven't heard of it, look it up. Oh my gosh, it's so good. But you think about it... if you're in the arena and you're doing your work and you are facing your fears and you are being courageous. You're getting [00:14:00] feedback. You give your feedback to yourself first. Imagine being so embodied in your own experience that you not even looking at the people in the grand stands, and you're not, you're certainly not listening to what they're saying to you.
Like, this is what I would love for you to step into. Because the thing is, the people who love you are going to love you regardless of your opinions. The people who want to have you around, they've already chosen you. And then the people who disagree with you, at the very least they might open their mind to that difference of opinion one day.
So I want you to take this as a really, really big shakeup. If you're currently holding yourself back, it is time to get in the arena. If you are seeing the thing that you wish you had of done that you haven't yet done because of fear. It's time [00:15:00] to go do the thing, put it on your list and get it done, either today or tomorrow.
And also, you are the source of your certainty. You are the source of your consistency. Be graceful to yourself. Give yourself space. And also give yourself a kick up the butt when you need it. So hope this was helpful. I'm sure it was. Anything, any feedback at all about this, share it on your social media. I know more people need to hear this sort of thing.
So if this is ringing true for you, it's probably going to ring true for anyone else who you share a business with, or you do business with. So share it on your socials.
